Objectives

The Bertelsmann Stiftung is working to promote steady development that leads to a sustainable society.

The Bertelsmann Stiftung is both a think tank and an agent for social change. As a private operating foundation, our primary goal is to make a meaningful and enduring contribution to society. We focus our activities on projects that can decisively influence society's long-term viability.

We focus on areas where we have built compelling competence through years of experience. We work toward improved education, a just and efficient economic system, a preventative healthcare system, a vibrant civil society and greater international understanding.

The Bertelsmann Stiftung is independent and nonpartisan. We design, launch and run our own projects. As a learning organization, we aspire to excellence. As an independent force for reform, we aim to break down barriers that stand in the way of social progress.
