Encouraging social change
In keeping with the longstanding commitment of its founder, Reinhard Mohn, the Bertelsmann Stiftung is dedicated to serving the common good. Its work is based on the conviction that competition and civic engagement are fundamental for ensuring social change.
According to its articles of incorporation, the Bertelsmann Stiftung is a private operating foundation that carries out its own work. It does not finance or promote the work of others. The foundation therefore does not accept applications for sponsorship of external projects.
Who we are
In keeping with the fundamental beliefs of its founder, Reinhard Mohn, the Bertelsmann Stiftung sees itself as a driver of social change. It is committed to the values of freedom, competition, solidarity and goodwill.
Foundation governance
The Bertelsmann Stiftung is governed by an Executive Board and a Board of Trustees.
