In the course of the candidate search for the Carl Bertelsmann Prize 2008, exemplary programs in the context of "integration through education" were sought in ten selected countries. In the following we present an overview of the search process as well as information on the education and integration policies of the respective countries.

Nominees

The project team identified outstanding programs for "integration through education" in the ten countries. The Search Committee thoroughly discussed these candidates and finally nominated four best practice examples for the Carl Bertelsmann Prize. The candidates from England, Sweden and Switzerland, which we introduce in the following, are delivering essential contributions to the promotion of equal opportunities at schools in their respective areas. They could provide important stimuli for the debate in Germany, too.
